Environment
The focus should be on the environment, particularly the PFAS issue in West Plains and Spokane County. It is crucial for our legislature to prioritize addressing the widespread presence of PFAS in our county by allocating resources to assist both public water utilities and private well owners in managing this emerging problem. Access to safe and clean drinking water is essential for all residents of Spokane County, and it is imperative that we safeguard this fundamental resource.
Housing
One of the key areas I will focus on is addressing the housing challenge in Spokane County. There is a significant lack of affordable rental properties and homes for purchase, making it difficult for families to become homeowners. It is crucial to create opportunities for individuals across all income levels to own their homes, as well as to establish stable rental options with affordable rates for residents.
Education
Education is a significant concern for me, and we must prioritize providing educators with the necessary resources to equip the next generation with the skills to compete globally. Additionally, we must focus on creating viable pathways for those interested in pursuing trade careers, ensuring their access to employment opportunities. This is why I advocate for apprenticeship programs at the high school level, as they can instill fundamental trade skills in our students and contribute to the development of a robust infrastructure for our future.
